8 Vegan Recipes To Warm You Up This Holiday Season

written by Mia Montalvo

The holiday season is a time for gathering, family, joy and of course, amazing food. While unfortunately gathering is a bit more restricted this year, there is still plenty of room for traditions and trying new recipes.

We know gift-giving is a love language. Whether you're looking for vegan products to gift, or simply a new vegan recipe to cook fo we’ve collected six of our favorite vegan holiday-inspired recipes from a variety of vegan creators, to make your holiday season just a little more warm and festive.

We’re starting with a few nourishing meals and then we’ll dive right into vegan sweets...  so get ready!

A warm hug in a mug, this acorn squash, kale and barley soupis the perfect meal to snuggle up with on those cold winter days. Incredibly easy to make, this recipe calls mostly for ingredients that you would probably already have sitting in your pantry, and it’s super hearty. Heat it up for lunch or dinner, with its versatility and bright flavors,  this soup will soon become your winter staple.

Leveraging another in-season vegetable, butternut squash is the ingredient that makes this vegan mac unlike no other. Easy to make from scratch, this oven baked recipe combines sweet flavors from the squash, and savory ones from sage breadcrumbs, nutritional yeast and nutmeg. This is a recipe you’re going to want to make for everyone.

Once again, the best winter meals are the cozy ones. This hearty Chipotle Sweet Potato & Lentil Chiliis packed with flavor, and protein. It’s flavor and texture profile is diverse, from sweet to savory, to slightly salty and above all just melt in your mouth-worthy. This meal is the perfect “main” for any holiday meal, and a great escape from the “traditional” holiday dinner.

These cookies have to be our absolute favorite to make during the holiday season. Nutty, tart yet still sweet, these cookies come out crispy on the outside and warm, chewy, and delightful on the inside. Made with oat flour, you’ll get the subtle taste of an oatmeal cookie with a much smoother consistency.

A traditional holiday treat, the Apple Bundt cake is no less the recipe to treat yourself to. Lightly spiced with flavors of ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves — this gooey, caramelly, apple cake will be the centerpiece to any intimate gathering. Apples are the main star of the show in this recipe, and give a festive yet light feel to this fluffy cake.

For the mint-lovers in your life, Minimalist Baker is serving up the easiest, most delicious recipe that only calls for FIVE ingredients! These little frozen treats are made with fresh mint, maple syrup and a shredded coconut filling, dipped in vegan dark chocolate. Is there anything else we could ask for?

If you’re missing those traditional holiday treats ever since going plant-based, don’t worry, these vegan chocolate chip cookies are almost as good as grandma’s. Gooey, warm and perfect to dunk into oat milk — snuggle up in your coziest pj’s and enjoy a few of these, or maybe a whole plate.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Is there any way else to end this recipe roundup? We’re taking notes from Neurotic Mommy, and her amazing vegan coquito recipe. Made with full-fat coconut milk, white rum and cinnamon sticks this is the perfect dessert drink to treat yourself to! Creamy and sweet, the added white rum is great for slow-sipping and savoring!
